Achievement-Oriented School Design

Abstract

Schools are constructed organizations, designed for a purpose. In this, they are like manufacturing organizations, business firms generally, and most organizations that are bureaucratic in form. Unlike primordial organizations, of which families are the prime example, the success of constructed organizations may be judged by the degree to which they achieve their purpose. In effect, the design of the organization may be evaluated by the organization's efficiency in achieving its purpose.
