Abstract

This report focuses on the elderly population of the United States. Particular attention is paid to future implications of the growth of the elderly population. We will focus on the diversity of Americas older population in terms of age race ethnicity gender economic status longevity health and social characteristics and geographic distribution. Throughout we will examine possible implications of the demographic changes. Data are from the 1990 census and recent official surveys. (EXCERPT)
