Abstract
Slow-wave sleep and human growth hormone release in early sleep was studied in 10 normal subjects after graded daytime exercise. Only 4 of 10 subjects had greater postexercise slow-wave sleep and only 2 of 10 subjects had augmented post-exercise sleep release of human growth hormone. We conclude that slow-wave sleep and human growth hormone release in sleep may not be responsive to daytime exercise.
