Abstract

Abstract This article reviews and critiques research on preventive and rehabilitative psychological interventions for sport injury. Intervention foundations, essential program components, theoretical/onceptual bases. supportive literature, individual intervention studies, research strengths and weaknesses, and relevance of study findings to future research are discussed. It is argued that psychological intervention studies demonstrate preliminary evidence of treatment efficacy. A strong call is issued for further empirical inquiry into preventive and rehabilitative injury processes.
