Abstract

Since perceived understanding appears to be important especially in later stages of interpersonal relationships, there is a need to identify communication behaviors that contribute to perceived understanding. As a first step toward this objective, this study reports on the development of an instrument for measuring perceived understanding and offers modest support for its reliability and validity.
