Abstract
The aim of this study is to identify measures which States, and in particular their national tourism administrations, might take in protecting and promoting culture and in the proper use and exploitation for tourism of sites, monuments, parks and natural reserves. The aim will be to achieve a better understanding of the role of all those who take part in the protection and promotion of the historical, cultural and natural heritage with a view to its proper use and exploitation for tourism, especially non-profit cultural associations and organizations such as foundations.
