Methods: 1000 heroin addicts were divided into two groups : intravenous injecting drug abusers (EDUs) and non - intravenous injecting drug abusers (NEDUs) . The difference of serum positive rates of anti - HCV between the two groups were observed. Results: The positive rate of anti - HCV in EDUs was much ingher than that of NEDUs (P 0.01) . The rate of anti - HCV in women heroin addicts was ingher than that in the men heroin addicts. The duration of iv drug was related with the positive rate of anti - HCV (trend x2 = 86.153, P 0.01). Conclusion: Intravenous injecting drug use is the main factor of HCV infections among drug abusers. So it is important to prevent and intervene ingh risk behaviors such as iv drug use, sharing injectors among drug abusers.
