Abstract

A lth0ugh United States has an adequate supply of nurses, mix of nurses by educational background is not sufficient to meet present and future challenges to nursing. In addition, present pool of nurses is not being utilitized up to its potential. Such underutilization results in a denial of needed care to American public, and makes nursing a less desirable career for the best and brightest.
