Abstract
This volume comprises the proceedings of the 1965 Conference on Research Program Effectiveness. The theme of this conference was 'Contributions of Research to the Improvement of Research Planning, Evaluation, and Utilization.' The central objective was to identify high-priority opportunities for advancing the theory and practice of research program management through the application of scientific methods. Papers reported on current data and concepts in research on R and D management with implications for enhancing the effectiveness of research programs and their management. Although the main focus was on studies of research, the conference proceedings include papers on development and engineering as well. Scientific analysis of problems which ordinarily occupy science administrators of broad research programs at various levels of management in large organizations was emphasized. (Author)
