Continuous recording of hand position in the study of complex visuo-motor tasks

A technique is described, which allows continuous monitoring of the contact of a stylus, held by hand, with an isotropic resistent substrate, which can be used as an analog of hand displacements in eye-hand recoordination studies, or in the study of drawing.

Abstract

A technique is described, which allows continuous monitoring of the contact of a stylus, held by hand, with an isotropic resistent substrate. The output of the system can be used as an analog of hand displacements in eye-hand recoordination studies, or in the study of drawing. Description d'une technique qui permet l'enrigestrement de la position et des déplacements d'un stylet (tenu à la main) sur une surface conductivo-résistante. Le signal de sortie du système d'enregistrement peut être utilisé dans des expériences de re-coordination entre l'oeil et la main, et dans l'étude du dessin. Es wird eine Technik beschrieben, die eine fortlaufende Überwachung des Kontaktes eines in der Hand gehaltenen Stiftes mit einer festen Unterlage gleichbleibender Neigung gestattet. Der Ertrag dieser Methode kann als Analogon zu den Arbeiten über die Handverschiebung bei Auge-Hand-Koordination oder diejenige über das Zeichnen angesehen werden.
