Abstract
Publication of a new 28-page booklet that defines and discusses “Guidelines and Standards for Measuring and Evaluating PR Effectiveness” was announced during the Spring of 1997 by the Institute for Public Relations Research & Education. The manuscript, which is reviewed and discussed in this article, was the result of a nine-month project carried out by a special eight-member Institute task force that sought to develop a minimum set of criteria and “groundrules” for the industry as a whole to consider when measuring and evaluating the impact of public relations.
