Abstract
PREVIOUS work in this Laboratory has shown that tritiated adrenaline and tritiated noradrenaline are taken up and retained in certain tissues for long periods of time1,2. It was also demonstrated that chronic denervation of sympathetic nerves resulted in the decreased ability of denervated tissues to take up administered tritiated noradrenaline and adrenaline3. These observations indicated that sympathetic nerve-endings selectively took up and retained circulating catecholamines. This property enabled us to label the nerve-endings with tritiated noradrenaline and to study its fate on liberation from sympathetic nerves.
