Abstract
ABSTRACT Based on a survey of 200 tourism education institutions in China, this paper analyzes the characteristics of and problems present in China's tourism education. The results show that the number of tourism programs has increased rapidly in the past 10 years owing to the fast development of the tourism industry. However, the quality of the programs needs to be improved. The results also indicate that salary levels are a key factor that will attract and then retain students in the industry.
