Abstract
This paper presents an alternative general procedure for studying the effects of transportation costs (work and nonwork related) on the household location decision. The aim is to provide a framework for determining which costs are properly included in full housing cost and which are not. The procedure is based upon the characteristics of the solution set of the Lancastrian consumer demand problem.
