The Role of Red Cells in Haemostasis: the Relation between Haematocrit, Bleeding Time and Platelet Adhesiveness

By transfusing patients with severe anaemia, normal or nearly normal platelet count, and prolonged bleeding time, this work was able to increase the platelet adhesiveness and return the bleeding time to normal in spite of a reduction of the total platelets by 20 per cent.
