Abstract
As telecommunications and computing technologies continue to evolve and shape the global business environment, the broadband Internet readiness of a country becomes an increasingly significant aspect in affecting a country's global competitiveness. Currently South Korea is ahead of the United States in the deployment of broadband Internet connection. What factors have contributed to South Korea's competitive broadband environment? An analytical framework is proposed to compare the development of broadband Internet in South Korea and the United States. It is found that the two nations' differences in their broadband Internet developments might be explained by a combination of policy, consumer demands, and supporting/related technologies issues.
