Abstract

In the present study a method is used, with which retrograde tracing with the fluorescent dye 'True Blue' is combined with the indirect immunofluorescence technique for visualizing enkephalin-like immunoreactivity. Evidence is presented for the existence of an enkephalin immunoreactive system originating in the lower medulla oblongata and projecting to the spinal cord.
