Abstract

Abstract In this chapter, Meyer, Goes, and Brooks provide two new and extraordinarily important insights. The first has to do with the nature of change in a hyperturbulent environment. Few researchers have encountered hyperturbulent environments; fewer still recognized hyperturbulence when they saw it; and no one else has made as much sense out of the nature of organizational change in hyperturbulent environment as have these authors. Hyperturbulent situations are unusual. These researchers were lucky. But ‘‘luck’‘ is preparation meeting opportunity. It is hard to imagine how any researchers could have exploited their opportunity more fully than did Meyer and associates.
