Abstract
ZusammenfassungSeveral reports reviewed by Katz et al. [1] indicate that human atherosclerosis may be reversible. Unfortunately most of these studies present only indirect, retrospective and poorly controlled data reflecting abrupt decreases in coronary heart attack incidence or mortality following involuntary severe dietary restriction — especially restriction in animal fats and hydrogenated oils. These decreases in the toll taken by coronary atherosclerosis could be due to a reduction in coronary thrombosis rather than a change in the underlying complex atherosclerosis process.
