The simple experiment has been made of measuring quantitatively the rate of excretion of coproporphyrin I in normal dogs during control periods and then during periods of increased hematopoietic activity following anemia due to the removal of blood, to avoid any possibility of the resynthesis of the products of the breakdown of Type III porphyrins to those of Type I structure.
