Abstract
This article is a historical overview of some of the influences of business upon the development of sociocultural anthropology and the consequences thereof, and a review of other major developments that shaped business anthropology over the past century. The article also discusses the most prominent areas of inquiry and practice in business anthropology that have emerged recently and how these have contributed to the current status of the subfield.
