Abstract
Forty Ss learned five-word sentences where the first words (nouns) were either the logical subjects or the logical objects of the sentences, and the third words (adjectives) were either sentence-modifiers or noun-modifiers. Recall of the sentences was prompted with the nouns for 20 Ss and with the adjectives for 20 Ss. Logical subjects facilitated recall more than the logical objects did, and sentence-modifiers were better prompts than noun-modifiers. This study was a replication of an earlier experiment with improved procedures and materials. Results of the earlier test were supported.
