Abstract
This reference uses a relational concept of gender that critically examines and debunks traditional assumptions about men, women, and sport. Eighteen original articles explore the lives of individual athletes; sport customs and beliefs and sex inequality; sexuality, heterosexism, and homophobia in sport and physical education; the structure and workings of sport organizations; and changing relations between and within the sexes in sport.
