Abstract
Seen from abroad the Scandinavian countries Denmark, Norway and Sweden look very similar. All three are small countries situated in Northern Europe. All three have in international comparison very high public sector sizes, as around one third of the total labour force is publicly employed. Accordingly, the levels of taxation are high.
