Abstract

By comparing Anglo-Saxon approaches to individual leaders with business practice in Japan's group-oriented society, we shed new light on a number of the underlying issues addressed in this book. In particular, we critically assess the now popular idea of 'dispersed' or 'distributed' leadership. If this is to have any real meaning, we see the need to understand it alongside issues of power, knowledge and context.
