Abstract

Abstract Drawing on critical race theory and the Freirean critical literacy process, the author links media literacy with a project of social justice. The author utilizes entertainment media as a pedagogical tool to analyze the intersections of race, gender, and class subordination; challenge deficit discourse; and raise social consciousness.
