Abstract

10 males and 6 females ranked 9 color samples in order of appropriateness for the walls of a simulated building interior. Half the subjects were informed that the neutral simulation represented a living room, and the other 8 that it was a bedroom. The results supported the hypothesis that the judged appropriateness of color varies with room function.
