Abstract
Case studies of the ecotourism experiences in different regions of the world are presented. The individual cases highlight the existence of significant differences between countries and regions, and within individual countries. It is indicated that ecotourism in each region is shaped by economic forces, socio-cultural, political, ecological, institutional and technical forces. It is suggested that ecotourism be set into a regional as well as site specific context.
