Abstract
ABSTRACT Considerable research on the basic mechanics of shoreline processes has been done over the last 15 years by geologists and engineers. Much of this research was done during World War II, but in more recent years numerous investigations have been made in connection with the qualitative and quantitative effects of shoreline structures on nearshore sediment movement. This paper summarizes some of the more important investigations that have been made on the many phases of this phenomenon.
