Hypnosis: A Scientific Approach

Abstract

This work offers a particular approach to that explains the phenomena associated with the word hypnotism without assuming a special hypnoid state. The author shows that the capacity to be hypnotised results from nothing more unusual than having a positive attitude to the test situation, high motivation to perform maximally, and strong expectations of enactment of unusual behaviours. The book aims to bring rigour to its review of empirical data and discussion.
