Abstract

In the 1980s, state attorneys general were not hesitant to exercise their authority in enforcing state consumer protection statutes. In addition to aggressively combatting deceptive or fraudulent practices that were local in nature, state attorneys general examined the acts or practices of national or regional firms under deceptive trade practices legislation.
