Abstract Providing supportive care confronts caregivers with multiple challenges that are different from those of traditional palliative care. Supportive care in oncology has been defined as “the provision of the necessary services for those living with or affected by cancer to meet their physical, psychosocial, informational and spiritual needs during the diagnostic, treatment, follow-up phases, encompassing issues of survivorship, palliation and bereavement.”
