Abstract
Chromocenters resembling sex chromatin were studied in 12 human tissue-culture cell lines derived from both normal tissues and malignant tumors. All of these cell lines had low counts, and there was no correlation of the sex of the donor of the tissue from which the cell strain was derived with counts of chromocenters resembling sex chromatin of the cell-culture preparations. There was no significant difference in the counts in cell lines derived from normal human tissues and those derived from malignant tumors. This is in accord with the findings of others that cell strains derived from normal tissue are morphologically and biochemically similar to those derived from malignant tumors.
