Abstract

The growing importance of tourism as a socioeconomic phenomenon,
\ntogether with the understanding that even apparently profitable tourism
\ncompanies and destinations endowed originally with the best assets
\n(natural and cultural) could not survive the escalating international competition
\nwithout good managerial practices (Crouch, 2011) has provided
\nsignificant momentum for the development of the disciplinary field of
\ntourism management in the last three decades.
