Abstract

DUNCAN, BARBARA, and ELIOT, JOHN. Some Variables Affecting Children's Spatial Conservation. CHILD DEVELOPMENT, 1973, 44, 828-830. This study explores the possibilities of using Kershner's spatial test with young children and seeks correlations with other tasks involving visual skills and dimensionality. 25 kindergarten children from a middle-class school were tested on Kershner's spatial model, 2 WISC performance tests, and 2 Piagetian tasks. The results validated Kershner's work but did not support his claims that his test measures conservation or dimensional concepts.
