Abstract The world’s wealth is becoming concentrated in fewer hands. According to the 1996 Human Development Report (United Nations Development Program—UNDP) (1996), the world’s 358 richest individuals controlled assets equivalent to the combined annual incomes of countries where 45 percent of the world’s people live.
