Existing psychological theories of the interrelationship of aggressive and sexual behavior are examined, and the most recent research with sexual aggressives is outlined.

344 Citations1977Gene G. Abel
The erections of rapists and nonrapists were measured during audio descriptions of rape and nonrape sexual scenes to discriminate those rapists with the highest frequency of rape, those who had injured their victim, and those who chose children as victims.

226 Citations1979Howard E. Barbaree, William L. Marshall +1 more
The rapists did not exhibit greater sexual arousal to forced or violent sex compared with consenting sex, either as a group or as individuals, and perhaps that force or violence failed to inhibit their arousal.

Four of seven human male subjects developed full penile erections when exposed to erotically stimulating motion pictures and were able to develop an erection in the absence of a film, each reaching a peak of about 30% of his maximum.

172 Citations1974Gene G. Abel
It is suggested that such "crossfertilization" between psychoanalytic and behavioral therapists may prevent unnecessary duplication of investigation, advance the state of knowledge more rapidly, and demonstrate that there may be more similarities in the two views than had been suspected previously.

The diagnosis of erotic preference by means of penis volumetry is described in the case of twenty-seven heterosexual and twenty homosexual pedophiliacs, twenty-three ephebophiliacs or androphiliacs and thirty-five heterosexual controls.

147 Citations1975Percy H. Tannenbaum, Dolf Zillmann
This chapter discuses the elementary arousal model, which focuses on the degree of emotional arousal, and proposes a more sophisticated theory to incorporate the various cognitive and arousal factors into a single model and demonstrates more specifically how they interact to determine the behavior.

140 Citations1971Donald E. Henson, H. B. Rubin
Although concentration on asexual stimuli may be the preferred method of reducing sexual arousal to erotic stimulation, penile erection can be inhibited by other methods.

127 Citations1972Kurt Freund, C. K. McKnight +2 more
It was tested that males with nondeviant erotic preferences are generally prone to react in a sexual way to female children, and only the pubic region, and to some degree the buttocks, elicited clearly distinctive reactions.
Behaviour Research and TherapyDiagnosing heterosexual pedophilia by means of a test for sexual interest
126 Citations1965Kurt Freund
A modification of the penis plethysmograph test of sexual interest is described and the efficacy of this method in the differential diagnosis of heterosexual pedophilia in male adults is discussed.
