Abstract
Neochloris oleoabundans has been cultivated in mineral medium deficient in nitrogen. The yield of lipids was 35–54% of cell dry weight. Triglycerides comprised 80% of the total lipids. Aliphatic hydrocarbons, sterols, pigments, glycolipids and phospholipids comprised the remaining lipid fraction. Saturated, monounsaturated and diunsaturated octodecanoic acid represented approximately one-half of the total fatty acids.
