Abstract
The purpose of this study was to estimate the effects oqfwelfare on marital dissolution and remarriage. The data were firom a sample of 4,322 females age 30-44 f~om the National Longitudinal Surveys. It was fbund that those who received AFDC, fobod stamps, or other public assistance dissolved their marriages more frequently than those not receiving welfare.
