Abstract
In recent years, there have been extensive efforts at educational, economic, and social intervention in the lives of families in the United States. Many intervention programs have been established to break the cycle of poverty (e.g., Head Start), to reduce or eliminate drug abuse, and to remediate an untold array of individual and social problems.
