Abstract
Abstract How might theoretical and research developments on attitudes be useful in connection with understanding patterns of community service use among older spousal caregiver-care recipient dyads? This paper will explore theoretical perspectives and empirical research findings from the fields of social gerontology, social psychology and sociology to address this question. The concept of attitude in relation to community service use as a decision-making outcome is critically examined. By exploring the influence of community service use attitudes on the help-seeking behavior of older spousal caregiver-care recipient dyads, researchers and practitioners will generate new knowledge that may improve service delivery to this high-risk service population.
