Abstract

This article reviews the scholarly literature in cross-cultural business communicationand discusses the shortcomings of the existing research. It demonstrates the limitations of the Western, linear paradigms and expounds upon some unresolved importantquestions which have been inadequately researched and hence need in-depth examination. Finally, the article develops a few testable hypotheses for the 1990s, emanatingfrom the discussion of the research questions.
