TL;DR

3D cryo-electron microscopy is used to describe the conformational flexibility of molecular machines to understand their mechanics but is technically difficult to achieve.

Abstract

Acquiring information to describe the conformational flexibility of molecular machines is necessary to understand their mechanics but is technically difficult to achieve. In this issue of Structure , Chiu and colleagues effectively tackle this problem using 3D cryo-electron microscopy with impressive results.
