Abstract
The clinical features and indications important in the selection of patients for tibial osteotomy have been presented, and our current approach to the operative technique and aftercare has been discussed. With prudent selection of patients a good result can be anticipated in 85 to 90 per cent of the cases. Proposed mechanisms of pain and pain relief are presented. Early proximal tibial osteotomy is recognized as a safe, effective, and reliable method of treatment for patients with osteoarthritis of the knee.
