Abstract

Renewed interest has been shown in the subject of standards for social workers with the recent attention to advanced certification. A critical developmental point for the establishment of standards comes at the two-year post-master's level. At this time supervision may no longer be provided to staff workers, independent licensing or certification can occur and many social workers be in to supervise. Standards of practice are proposed in six content areas in which ideal expectations for workers at the two-year point are described. The standards are articulated in a developmental context.
