Abstract

Factor analysis is a statistical technique designed to summarize data so that relationships and patterns can be easily interpreted and understood. It is normally used to regroup variables into a limited set of clusters, known as factors. Personality psychology has made use of factor analysis throughout its existence and has played a guiding role in the development of past and present theories of personality.
