The Spatial Separatist Theme in Geography

Abstract

In spite of the fact that there is no complete agreement among geographers about the most appropriate form of explanation and conception of physical space (though an empirical deductive framework of explanation is the most frequently cited), one can sketch the bases of three major attempts at expressing the separatist theme within a scientific geography. Later the three attempts will be phrased more precisely within a specific vocabulary of science, when each will be termed a spatial separatist contention. The most extreme attempt is through the claim that there are spatial, nonspatial, and degrees of spatial facts, or more generally that space and properties of space exist absolutely.
