Abstract
What many Americans know about the United States Congress, and consequently their evaluations of it, come in some considerable measure from their reading of newspapers. In this analysis of the coverage of Congress in ten metropolitan newspapers, Professor Tidmarch and Mr. Pitney observe that while much of the news about Congress is neutral, a significant amount of it is likely to be negative.
