Investigating trekkers’ attitudes to the environment of Annapurna, Nepal

Abstract

This research note is based upon a survey of trekkers' attitudes to the environment of Annapurna in Nepal. It provides an insight into the views of 156 trekkers, surveyed during a three-week period, in the villages of Ghorepani and Tatopani. Although an initial study, it provides pointers to further research, attempting to understand attitudes held by tourists towards nature and the environment. In its own right, it also provides some interesting indicators of how trekkers experience the environment.
