Abstract
This paper presents an implementation framework using Business Intelligence (BI) technologies for manufacturing management. Manufacturing management refers to all aspects of the product manufacturing process. With increasing competition and ever more demanding customers, manufacturing industry needs to find ways to help lower lead time, in reducing product costs, improve quality, and in planning flexibility. While prior research in both manufacturing and Information Technology (IT) has put focus on the performance effects of such investments, few studies have examined the important requirements for making manufacturing decisions. The intelligent systems can process input signals to actuate an output action. An intelligent system with BI reporting and analytics provides decision support and better production visibility. In this paper, in order to get results more efficiently and ensure manufacturing performance, an implementation framework using BI technologies for manufacturing management has been developed. An example of implementation of tool tracking and management system describes in depth to show that the implementation of intelligent systems can lead to better manufacturing operational performance.
